A healthy afternoon in the Cartesius three nursery
The Cartesius project team has been working to prepare the Cartesius Craamkamer for winter, ensuring that nature and biodiversity continue to thrive. Arie and Jasper van Eijkelboom guided the team through the importance of preserving trees and shrubs, while also introducing temporary initiatives to support local flora and fauna. To enrich biodiversity, weeds around tree containers have been removed, and flower bulbs have been planted, providing essential food sources for insects in spring. The walkway has been cleared, creating a welcoming space where local residents, workers from Ballast Nedam West, and future residents of Nicoya can take a break, walk, or enjoy lunch on a tree trunk. The Cartesius Craamkamer is a temporary green space dedicated to the reuse and preservation of existing greenery. In many urban developments, trees, shrubs, and plants are often removed to make way for construction. However, MRP and Ballast Nedam Development are giving these natural elements a second life, integrating them into the evolving healthy, green, and sustainable urban district of Cartesius.
