Cartesius Utrecht in Focus broadcast about importance of healthy air

The new Cartesius district is designed to promote longer, healthier, and happier lives, where clean air plays a crucial role. To achieve its ambition of a healthy and sustainable lifestyle, key choices have been made, including the creation of a car-free urban district and a strong commitment to large-scale shared mobility.

Did you know that thousands of people in the Netherlands die every year from the toxic air they breathe? Air pollution is a silent killer—invisible yet present everywhere. Scientists are working hard to track it down and find solutions to improve air quality. The TV program Focus, aired by NTR on Saturday, August 5, explored this urgent issue in an episode titled "Toxic Air." Presenters Elisabeth van Nimwegen and Diederik Jekel investigated the scientific efforts to combat air pollution and visited Cartesius Utrecht alongside Roel Vermeulen from Utrecht University.
